The rescheduled Kelly Pavlik/Paul Williams bout for December 5th has been cancelled for the second time after Pavlik again pulled out with with a staph infection in his hand.
Jack Loew, Pavlik's trainer, claimed that Pavlik is struggling to make a closed fist with his left hand.
"He's trying," said Loew. "He's been running, he's been trying to train in the gym. He's trying to shadow box with one hand, hit the speed bag with one hand. ... I've been trying to keep it a secret but it's not going great and I'm not going to fool anybody any longer."
HBO tried to reschedule the middle weight title fight for January 23rd 2010 but Paul Williams' promoter Dan Goosen has rejected this and instead plans on going ahead with the December 5th HBO date.
